1. Detection Principle

The Equine Influenza Ag (EI Ag) colloidal gold reagent works on immunochromatography. Its test strip has specific antibodies against equine influenza virus immobilized on the nitrocellulose membrane. When a sample, usually nasal swab or respiratory secretion from a horse, is added, if EI Ag is present, it binds to the colloidal - gold - labeled antibodies in the conjugate pad. The complex migrates along the membrane by capillary action. A red or purple test line appears where the complex binds to the immobilized antibodies, and a control line validates the test.
