Pigeon paramyxovirus disease, also known as pigeon Newcastle disease, is a highly contagious and severe infectious disease caused by pigeon type I paramyxovirus.

Sick pigeons usually show listlessness and loss of appetite. In terms of the nervous system, they exhibit neurological symptoms such as head - twisting and neck - tilting. In the digestive system, there are phenomena such as vomiting and diarrhea. Moreover, the spread of this disease is extremely rapid. It can spread rapidly in pigeon coops through the feces, saliva and other secretions of sick pigeons. It has a high fatality rate and poses a great threat to pigeon flocks. Whether they are homing pigeons, meat pigeons or ornamental pigeons, they are all easily infected.

Clinical Application:

· Early - stage Diagnosis Advantages:
The early - stage symptoms of pigeon paramyxovirus disease may not be obvious and are similar to those of some other pigeon diseases. Nucleic acid detection reagents can detect the nucleic acid of pigeon type I paramyxovirus in the early stage of infection, even before pigeons show typical neurological symptoms such as head - twisting and neck - tilting, or digestive system symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea. This helps to achieve early and accurate diagnosis of the disease, and gain precious time for subsequent treatment.
When there are mixed infections of multiple diseases or similar symptoms in a pigeon flock, nucleic acid detection reagents can specifically detect the nucleic acid of pigeon paramyxovirus, thus accurately differentiating it from other diseases such as pigeonpox and trichomoniasis, avoiding misdiagnosis and improving accuracy.

· Adjustment of Drugs and Treatment Plans:
During the treatment of pigeons infected with pigeon paramyxovirus disease, nucleic acid detection reagents can be used to monitor the changes in the viral nucleic acid load. If the detection results show that the amount of viral nucleic acid has not decreased or has instead increased, it indicates that the current treatment drugs or plans may be ineffective and need to be adjusted in a timely manner, such as replacing antiviral drugs or changing the treatment dosage.
