1. Detection Principle

The Equine Adenovirus Ag (EA Ag) colloidal gold reagent is based on immunochromatography. Test strips contain specific antibodies against equine adenovirus immobilized on the nitrocellulose membrane. When a sample, typically nasal secretions or tissue samples from horses, is added, if EA Ag is present, it binds to the colloidal - gold - labeled antibodies in the conjugate pad. The complex then migrates along the membrane by capillary action. A red or purple test line forms where the complex binds to the immobilized antibodies, and a control line ensures the test's validity.

2. Clinical Significance

  • Disease Diagnosis: For horses with symptoms like respiratory distress, conjunctivitis, and diarrhea, detecting EA Ag helps confirm equine adenovirus infection. Early diagnosis allows for appropriate isolation of sick horses and implementation of supportive treatment.

  • Herd Health Management: In horse populations, especially in stables and breeding farms, screening with this reagent helps monitor the presence of the virus. This information is crucial for preventing outbreaks and maintaining overall herd health.

3. Advantages

  • Quick Results: Delivers results within 10 - 15 minutes, enabling rapid response to suspected infections.

  • Easy to Use: Requires no specialized skills, making it suitable for use by veterinarians in the field, horse owners, and stable workers.

  • Visual Interpretation: Results are clearly visible through the appearance of test and control lines, eliminating the need for complex laboratory equipment.

Features of Equine Adenovirus Ag (EA Ag)

This is used to test Equine Adenovirus Ag (EA Ag) test strips, which adopt the colloidal gold immunochromatography method. The advantages of FLASHTEST farm animals rapid test products are mainly:

  • Up to 5 items can be tested at a time, supporting customization of various combination multi-panel cards;

  • High sensitivity and specificity, using high-quality antigens or antibodies, can detect lower concentration samples;

  • Fastest results in 5~10 minutes, intuitive results without extra equipment;

  • Portable for anytime use;

  • Extremely cost-effective, currently the most affordable diagnostic method.
