African Swine Fever Virus (ASFV) exists in multiple genotypes, among which genotype Ⅰ and genotype Ⅱ are two common and significantly impactful types. These two genotypes have spread extensively worldwide, causing substantial economic losses to the swine industry. The ASFV Ⅰ/Ⅱ nucleic acid detection reagent is specifically designed to detect the viral nucleic acids of these two major genotypes.
This detection reagent mainly relies on real - time fluorescence quantitative PCR technology. By designing specific primers and probes, it can accurately identify the unique nucleic acid sequences of ASFV genotype Ⅰ and genotype Ⅱ. During the PCR reaction, the primers specifically bind to the nucleic acids of ASFV genotype Ⅰ or genotype Ⅱ that may exist in the sample. As DNA amplification proceeds, the fluorescence signal continuously strengthens. The instrument monitors the fluorescence signal intensity in real - time. When the signal reaches the set threshold, it can be determined whether the corresponding genotype of ASFV is present in the sample. In addition, some novel detection techniques, such as the CRISPR - Cas system - based detection method, are gradually being applied to the research and development of this reagent. It has higher specificity and sensitivity and is expected to bring new breakthroughs to the detection of African Swine Fever.

Clinical Applications

  1. Precise Disease Monitoring:In swine farms, samples of pigs' blood, tissues, etc. are regularly tested. By differentiating between ASFV genotype Ⅰ and genotype Ⅱ, the infection status of the virus in the pig herd can be more accurately grasped. For example, in a large - scale swine farm, different batches of fattening pigs are randomly sampled and tested every week. Using this reagent, the genotype of the virus infecting the pigs can be quickly determined, and targeted isolation and prevention and control measures can be promptly taken to prevent the spread of the epidemic.

  2. Epidemic Prevention and Tracing:Once an African Swine Fever epidemic occurs, this detection reagent is used to conduct large - scale testing of pig samples from the affected pig farms and surrounding areas. By determining the virus genotype, the transmission route of the virus can be traced. The gene sequences of ASFV genotype Ⅰ and genotype Ⅱ may vary in different regions. By analyzing these differences, it is possible to judge how the virus spreads, whether through pig transportation, human movement, or other means, providing a basis for formulating effective prevention and control strategies.

  3. Breeding Pig Health Management:For breeding pig farms, the health of breeding pigs is of utmost importance. Using this detection reagent to conduct strict regular testing of breeding pigs ensures that the breeding pig population is free from ASFV genotype Ⅰ and genotype Ⅱ infections, avoiding the spread of the disease in the offspring pig population due to breeding pigs carrying the virus. Meanwhile, when introducing breeding pigs, this reagent can also be used for strict quarantine to prevent the introduction of breeding pigs carrying the virus and ensure the safe progress of breeding pig breeding work.

  4. Support for Scientific Research and Vaccine Development:In the scientific research of African Swine Fever, this detection reagent provides a powerful tool for studying the molecular epidemiology, virus mutation patterns, and pathogenic mechanisms of ASFV genotype Ⅰ and genotype Ⅱ. Through the detection and analysis of a large number of samples, the characteristics and transmission patterns of these two genotypes of viruses can be deeply understood. In the process of vaccine development, this reagent is used to detect whether there is an ASFV genotype Ⅰ or genotype Ⅱ infection in animals after vaccination, evaluate the protective effect of the vaccine against different genotypes of viruses, and accelerate the research and development process of safe and effective African Swine Fever vaccines.
